Tidbits-o-stuff related to Borderstan.

  • 15th Street: No Parking during the day, June 29-July 2. The city is getting ready to do “tree work” along 15th Street NW, according to signs posted this week on certain blocks in the Borderstan portion of 15th Street NW (east and west sides of street). The no-parking rule is in effect from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting this Monday, June 29, and running through Thursday, July 2.
  • Regular Trash and Recycling Pick up on Friday, July 3. Even though next Friday is a holiday (July 4th weekend), the city’s Department of Public Works has scheduled regular trash and recycling pick up.
  • That falling-down house at 1841 16th Street NW. Remember the protest over the possible demolition of the historic house at 16th and T NW? The house is safe, according to the Washington Examiner, “The D.C. government has agreed to pay to stabilize a historic, million-dollar Dupont Circle row house that the private owners let deteriorate until it partially collapsed a year ago. The Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs will spend $225,000 to ensure the house at 1841 16th St. NW doesn’t fall to the ground, agency Director Linda Argo said Tuesday. The five- to six-week project, the result of negotiations with the property owner, is expected to begin immediately… The agency will place a lien on the home, assessed by the city at $1 million, for the cost plus interest if the couple do not pay.” Read story.

  1. I wish they would start later than 7am. The loud noise that woke us up around that time this morning was the workers chipping the cut tree limbs. Super loud!!

Good that there’s performing maintenance, anyway. Anyone know when the 15th Street bike lane plan starts actually being implemented?
