“LET ME IN!” Whole Foods Closes Early; Urban Hipsters Panic


Thursday: Whole Foods on the 1400 block of P Street NW closed its doors at 9 p.m., which was 30 minutes earlier than its previously announced 9:30 p.m. closing. Thursday: The scene inside the P Street Whole Foods around 9 p.m. tonight. One man was outside on his cell phone talking to Whole Foods, complaining that the store had decided to close at 9, not 9:30 p.m. as announced earlier. (Luis Gomez Photos)

Snow Emergency Takes Effect at 9:30 a.m.; Move Your Car?


First, kudos to DDoT for communicating via Facebook and Twitter (DDOTDC).

The city will implement a snow emergency at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow (Friday). This means you may need to move your car (full listing of streets affected are at DDoT).

For example, 16th Street NW is a snow emergency route. Routes affected in the Dupont-Logan-U Street area include:

  • Connecticut Avenue NW from K to Western
  • Florida Avenue – H Street NE to 9th Street NW
  • Florida Avenue NW – U Street to 22nd Street
  • Massachusetts Avenue NW – Western Avenue to North Capitol Street
  • Mt. Vernon Place NW – Massachusetts Avenue to New York Avenue
  • Rhode Island Avenue – Connecticut Avenue NW to Eastern Avenue NE
  • U Street NW – 9th Street to Florida Avenue
  • 9th Street – Southwest Freeway to Florida Avenue NW
  • 15th Street NW – K Street to Massachusetts Avenue
  • 16th Street NW – H Street to Eastern Avenue
  • 15th Street NW – K Street to Massachusetts Avenue
  • 16th Street NW – H Street to Eastern Avenue

Borderstan Area Cancellations and Postponements


Update: The WaPo’s Going Out Gurus are keeping an updated list of cancelled events… Overall, WTOP has the best list I can find; it appears that many places are closing at noon today… The Federal government is also planning to let workers leave four hours early today—the unscheduled leave policy is in effect… A DC snow emergency goes into effect at 9:30 this morning—do you need to move your car?
