17th Street Safeway: The Essentials Update

Friday at 5:30 p.m. at 17th Street Safeway: A handful of eggs. (Luis Gomez Photos)

(Click to enlarge.) A few rolls of buiscuits but not much cookie dough.

(Click to enlarge.) Cheese is popular, but supplies are holding up.

  3. That is so funny, thanks for sharing. Looks like Safeway is back to its old Soviet days!

  4. @Jessica: I agree …and am willing to go to safeway with a spray bottle of bleach and clean that nasty egg fridge myself!

  6. This is funny, it feels like The Day After Tomorrow here in DC.

  7. While I agree with Avi, having been in DC during huge snow, it’s pretty bad and can impact for more than just the weekend. The removal crews aren’t the same as places that are used to it. It’s just the way it is in DC.

That said…I now hope Safeway will take advantage of all the eggs being sold and clean that disgusting fridge that holds them. It’s like salmonella’s paradise

  9. Really? We live in a city of freaks. This sh*t will be over by Saturday night, and life will return to normal Sunday morning or, at worst, Monday morning.

Obviously we live in a metropolis where no one has ever slept in over the weekend to recover from a bad hangover. Consider this snowstorm like that bad hangover…sleep it off and lighten up.
