Final preparations are being made today for the Saturday opening of sweetgreen at 1471 P Street NW. The store will open at 11 a.m. and Sweetgreen promises a "salad blaster" to the first 50 people through the door. (Luis Gomez Photos)

Local chain sweetgreen is opening its fourth store this Saturday in Logan Circle at 1471 P Street NW in the Metropole building. Sweetgreen specializes in locally grown organic food, including salads and yogurt.

According to a spokesperson for sweetgreen, the store’s market will be the most unique part of the store: “We are adding 3 ‘sides’ to our daily menu, all of them chock full of local, sustainable food. They will rotate based on what is available in season, but will always consist of a grain/legume side, a roasted veg side, and a protein side (like local Virginia-grown and produced tofu, or EcoFriendly Foods sausage.”

Inside, the Logan Circle sweetgreen’s decor will feature works by local artist Tang, whose work has recently been featured at Transformer Gallery (across the street from the store).

  1. is this the same chain with the big PETA signs in windows? used to be CyberStop Cafe?

    if so, I’m skipping it. I’m all for healthy eating, but promoting PETA that much, forget it.

    • Hi Mikey,

      I believe you might be thinking of a different restaurant. While Sweetgreen is very conscious of where our meat/poultry comes from, and we are animal lovers, as a company we are not a financial supporter of PETA.

      As toppings for our salads, we offer a variety of meat, poultry, seafood, and cheeses from fantastic local, sustainable, humane sources (check the Local List for specific farms).

      We do also have several really good totally vegan salads (including a brand new one only at Logan, The Sabzi, with house-made falafel).

  3. I went to check it out for dinner last night, and it was closed at 8pm. No hours on the door. Just says it opens at noon.

  4. EcoFriendly Sausage? What, the lamb simply dined on a steady diet of anise seed, carraway & belgian endive before lovingly walking into the Buthcer’s shop to become sausage?
