Floriana Mercury Grill is located at 1602 17th Street NW. It has one of the best reputations in town… as a wonderful Italian restaurant with consistent service and great prices.

Logan Tavern is located at 1423 P Street NW and is one of the pioneering restaurants in the revival of the 14th Street corridor. Always a good bet for a pleasant meal, with a diverse menu.

HR-57 is located at 1610 14th Street NW. A favorite of mine, it is not really a place to eat, but a wonderful place to fill the spirit with great live jazz  music. You can bring your own liquor or allow them to serve you. There are some finger foods available.

Merkado Closing… Commissary Opening

Mercado is closing Commissary is coming.

Merkado is closing; Commissary is coming.

Merkado, Logan Tavern’s sister restaurant at 1433 P Street NW, will be closing its doors this Sunday only to re-open two weeks later. The new restaurant/bar/coffee shop is called Commissary, an establishment that proclaims to be green-friendly, pet-friendly with “a good vibe and honest prices.” Commissary will also have free wi-fi, a major plus considering Starbucks wi-fi comes with a fee. For those of you who have been to Logan’s The Heights in Columbia Heights, whose menu bares a striking resemblance to Logan Tavern, Commissary’s menu will feature over 70 items, sharing less than a handful with its fellow restaurant just a few doors down.
