So sayeth the sign in the window as well as the blurbage on Policy’s Web site… the new place will open in March at 1900 14th Street NW (just north of T). Luis took the accompanying photo through the front window this evening. From Policy’s Web site:

Policy – redefined with an explosion of broiled, marinated and sautéed perspectives. Brilliant chandeliers add warmth and charm to your dining experience as you mingle, and toast to a new Truth, Love and Liberty. Come and join the visionary, Omar Miskinyar, at the newest addition to hit The U Street corridor where you will experience first class dining, an upbeat tempo, and a hip, Inviting atmosphere.

  1. I’ve been so anxious and waiting patiently for POLICY to open! Its been a tease throughout the years watching the construction.(its modern artistic design is my cup of tea : ) After all those years it really did turn out to be a spectacular looking rest/lounge. You can tell the visionary is a unique character with originality.
Anyhow my girlfriends and I enjoyed the Bison Short Ribs, Rockfish, Lamb chops, (btw best e_v_e_r bursting with flavor), black truffle fries, and the whipped potatoes. The taste and quality of the food can not even compare to the other surrounding restaurants, (props to your chef) and just the whole atmosphere of the place feels like your in this really cool futuristic diner. They bring out your plates one by one and the portions sizes are small yet satisfying.
After dinner we headed upstairs to the lounge where we enjoyed the music and our “Libertinis.” We definitely had a blast and Im so happy to have found my new local hot spot. Thank god your finally open and walking distance because U street needed to step it up with the scene.

  2. Really enjoyed my meal there last night and I think the restaurant will be a nice addition to the neighborhood. Loved the lamb chops with eggplant puree and rosemary jus. Cooked just right. Looking forward to (maybe?) an expanded dessert menu.

The service was great and the hostess had the foresight to seat us away from a large party hanging out at the bar. Sage was a great waiter, too!

  4. Can someone please ask them not to operate their valet parking service so that it blocks the bike lane on 14th street – it not very neighborly.

  5. Congratulations to Omar, owner of POLICY, for hosting a wonderful reception for the neighbors last night. I loved the food, especially the Grilled Short Ribs with the Miso-Mustard Glaze, Chiles, and Cucumber Salad. Best wishes to him and his crew as they launch this new trendy restaurant in our neighborhood! Check out their menu of small plates and sides at http://www.policydc.com.

  6. If you look at their website, you can see some images that they clearly stole from iStockphoto without buying the rights. How? The logo is still on the images.

They might want to fix that…

  7. Brian Murphy showed me the place last evening, and I was stunned. Really top materials and design, the absolute best in kitchen gear. Really stunning throughout. Eagerly anticipating a new hot spot in the neighborhood.
